SEVENTEEN tops charts with 5th album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’… Dominates global music scene
SEVENTEEN has swept both domestic and international charts with their fifth full-length album “HAPPY BURSTDAY,” signaling a powerful return.
The title track “THUNDER,” released on May 26, debuted at No. 7 on Melon’s “Top 100” and rose to No. 1 by midnight on the 27th. Six tracks, including “HBD” and “Bad Influence (prod. Pharrell Williams),” entered the Top 10, with all other songs charting in the Top 30.
According to Hanteo Chart, the album sold 2,269,401 copies on its first day, landing at No. 1 on the daily album chart.
Globally, “HAPPY BURSTDAY” reached No. 1 on iTunes “Top Albums” in 15 countries and topped the “Worldwide iTunes Albums” chart. “THUNDER” also ranked No. 1 on “Top Songs” in 13 countries and entered the “Worldwide iTunes Songs” chart at No. 7. It also placed No. 2 on the European iTunes Albums chart, and No. 1 on Japan’s LINE Music “Top 100 Albums” and China’s QQ Music “Digital Best-Selling Albums.”
The music video for “THUNDER” quickly gained traction, reaching No. 2 on YouTube Korea’s “Trending Music Videos” and ranking high in countries like Canada, the UK, the US, Singapore, and Thailand.
Notably, the group’s 2018 track “I’m Going to Meet You Now” from their special album “DIRECTOR’S CUT” re-entered Melon’s “Top 100” at No. 38 following a performance at the “B-DAY PARTY : BURST Stage @잠수교” event on May 25.
SEVENTEEN will continue promotions with appearances on music shows starting May 29.
