RM wins at American Music Awards as Favorite K-Pop Artist, achieving solo and group honors
BTS member RM has been named the winner of the "Favorite K-Pop Artist" category at the American Music Awards, reaffirming his presence as a leading figure in K-pop.
According to the official website of the American Music Awards on May 26 (local time), RM has become the first K-pop artist to win both as part of a group and as a soloist at the event.
BTS previously won major categories in 2021, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite Pop Song. In 2022, the group also took home two awards.
RM's second solo album, "Right Place, Wrong Person," released in May last year, earned acclaim from music fans and critics worldwide. The album was included in Billboard, Rolling Stone, and NME's Best Albums of 2024 lists, with several tracks also selected among the year's best songs.
The title track “LOST!” stood out for its artistry and originality. UK music magazine NME gave the album a perfect score of 5, calling it “a beautiful and compelling artistic work.” Grammy.com also praised RM’s creativity and musical execution.
The “LOST!” music video recently won three awards at the 2025 Shark Music Video Awards in the UK, including Best Music Video, Best R&B·Soul Video, and Best Direction. It has also received accolades from the UK Music Video Awards, Germany's Ciclope Festival, and the Berlin Commercial Awards. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
