I-DLE Marks 7th Anniversary with Comeback Under New Name…“We Finally Found Our True Name”

I-DLE has marked their 7th anniversary with a rebranding, officially changing their name to I-DLE and signaling a new beginning.

All members renewed their contracts with Cube Entertainment last year, and on May 2, they announced the change to celebrate their debut anniversary. The new name, I-DLE, reflects an identity that transcends gender, aiming to showcase more boundary-breaking music and concepts.

This rebranding also came with emotionally expressive content. Through visuals like “for (G)” and the “i-dentity trailer,” the group symbolically said farewell to “(G),” and released a special album, “We are i-dle,” featuring 5-member versions of their hit songs—emphasizing the message, “We are I-DLE.”

Member Miyeon shared, “Since our debut, many people questioned why ‘(G)’ was part of our name. We always said we’d drop it once we were better known. Now it feels like we’ve truly found our name.”

Yuqi added, “We’ve been using the name for seven years, so sometimes I still say the ‘G’ when introducing ourselves in English, but it's all part of getting used to the change. We wanted to make a shift with this new beginning.”

Regarding their goals for this comeback, Yuqi said, “I once jokingly promised I’d shave my head if we hit No.1 on Billboard. Soyeon told me this new song feels like a No.1 hit, so now I might have to follow through. I really hope it does well. We’ll give it our all.”

Soyeon emphasized, “This album reflects the many colors of I-DLE. I want people to expect even more fun and creative sides from us in the future.”

Minnie expressed excitement, saying, “Through this rebranding, we’ve become stronger and more confident. I’m excited to show a refreshing side of us. Please look forward to what’s next for I-DLE.”

I-DLE released their 8th mini album “We are” at 6 PM KST, and began interacting with fans through Naver's CHZZK and their official YouTube channel starting at 9 PM.
