Choi Yoojung Cast as Lead in Musical '42nd Street'… Set to Perform in July

Singer and actress Choi Yoojung has been cast as the lead in the musical '42nd Street'.

On May 15, her agency Fantagio announced, “Choi Yoojung will play the role of 'Peggy Sawyer' in the musical '42nd Street', which opens on July 10.”

'42nd Street' was first introduced to Korea in 1996 as the country’s first officially licensed musical, contributing to the popularization of musicals in Korea. Known for its grand stage production and large-scale ensemble tap dance performances, it has remained a beloved show among audiences for many years.

Choi Yoojung’s character, Peggy Sawyer, is an aspiring actress who rises from obscurity to stardom. She is expected to showcase her stable acting skills, strong vocals, and solid performance ability to portray this success story on stage.

Choi Yoojung previously made her musical debut as Lingling in 'Hero' and expanded her acting career by playing the role of Saetbyeol, a civil service exam student, in the film 'Baeksu Apartment'. With '42nd Street', she will return to the musical stage after about a year, aiming to show her growth as an actress once again.

Meanwhile, Choi Yoojung continues to engage with fans through diverse activities as a solo artist and actress, as well as through her personal YouTube channel 'Choi Yudaeng'.
