TWS Rises on Charts in Japan Following Korean Success, Variety Appearances Add Charm
TWS is showing notable growth in Japan, building on their strong momentum in South Korea.
According to their agency Pledis Entertainment, the group's third mini album ‘TRY WITH US’ sold around 87,000 copies and ranked second on the latest Oricon weekly album chart (dated May 5, tracking April 21–27). This follows their first-place finish on Korea’s Hanteo weekly album chart for the fourth week of April.
Despite not having officially debuted in Japan, TWS previously topped the Oricon weekly singles chart (December 2–8, 2023) with their first single ‘Last Bell,’ selling about 74,000 copies. Their consistent growth in fandom suggests strong overseas appeal.
Since their comeback on April 21, TWS has appeared on multiple web variety shows, showcasing both their performance and personalities. Their stage for the title track ‘Countdown!’ drew attention for the group’s talent and charisma.
Once known as an “introverted group” at debut, TWS has turned that image into a unique strength this comeback. On the show ‘Halmyungsoo,’ the members played off Park Myungsoo’s signature humor with surprising wit, even trying impersonations. On ‘Idol Human Theater,’ they mixed soft-spoken charm with subtle comedic timing, earning laughs from viewers.
Meanwhile, ‘Countdown!’ has received a positive response for its refreshing sound. The music video reached number one on YouTube’s trending videos, and the song climbed to number two on trending music charts. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
