NCT former member TAEIL charged with sexual assault
According to a report by The Korea Times on April 4, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division 1 (Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kim Ji-hye) indicted TAEIL and two accomplices on charges of special quasi-rape under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act on March 28.
The men were accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman in June last year. Seoul's Bangbae Police Station applied for an arrest warrant for the men, but the court dismissed the warrant in light of the suspects' admission of the charges. Police investigated TAEIL further and handed him over to prosecutors in September.
While his co-conspirators claimed during the prosecution's investigation that they did not plan the crime, TAEIL reportedly did not respond to the prosecution's investigation due to health reasons.
TAEIL debuted with NCT U in 2016 and served as a member of NCT 127, and his agency SM Entertainment announced the termination of his contract in October last year after learning of his crimes. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
