Lee Seung-gi continues lawsuit with former agency over unpaid settlement
Previously, Lee Seung-gi sued Hook CEO Kwon Jin-young and others for violation of the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes (business embezzlement and fraud), saying that he released a total of 137 songs from Hook Entertainment since 2004, but did not receive payment for the music revenue.
In response, Hook Entertainment paid Lee Seung Gi 5.4 billion won in settlement. Afterward, CEO Kwon Jin-young filed a lawsuit to confirm the non-existence of the debt, saying, "In addition to the 1.3 billion won in base salary settlement, we paid Lee Seung-ki an additional 4.1 billion won in unpaid music and interest."
However, Lee Seung Gi's side said that his music revenue from October 2009 to September 2022, when he was a member of Hook Entertainment, amounted to about 9.6 billion won, which is a limited amount for the five years after his debut from June 2004 to August 2009.
Hook Entertainment said the reason for the lawsuit was to "confirm that it no longer owes Lee Seung Gi any settlement money and to end the related dispute."
Lee Seung Gi personally appeared as a defendant on the second defense day and said, "I hope there will never be another victim like me again. Through this case, I hope that no more junior entertainers who debuted at a young age like me will suffer similar disadvantages." Seunggi read out a petition. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
