GFRIEND to celebrate 10th anniversary of debut with music broadcast

GFRIEND celebrates their 10th anniversary with a new song.

GFRIEND will perform their special album title track "Season of Memories" on Mnet's music program "M-Countdown" at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9. Starting with "M-Countdown," the group will appear on various music broadcasts throughout the week to showcase their new stage.

Fans and the public are eagerly anticipating GFRIEND's comeback stage. The "39th Golden Disk Awards" and "Studio Dance" videos, which were released on YouTube on July 7, were among the top trending videos immediately after their release. Kalgunmu and his GFRIEND, who is known for her double-speed dance, have been making waves with their performances."

The new song, "Season of Memories," has been praised for its nostalgic choreography that taps into the nostalgia of K-pop fans. The performance emphasizes the group's bond with their fans and focuses on capturing the group's path rather than following trends, especially the choreography homages to past songs such as "Rough" and "Time to Run (Rough)."

"We wanted the audience to have a panoramic view of the time they spent with their GFRIENDs and fans while watching the stage," said Park So-yeon, performance director at SOURCE Music. "We wanted the audience to feel a deep sense of empathy as they look back on the time the group and their fans have gone through, rather than just watching the performance."

The members were also actively involved in the choreographic process. They shared their ideas with the production team, such as "I want to emphasize the big arm movements" and "I want to harmonize the past and present," and together they finalized the choreography. The six members put their hearts and souls into the performance, setting aside a practice room and practicing even while attending an awards ceremony in Japan.

GFRIEND's special album "Season of Memories" will be officially released on January 13 at 6 p.m. KST. The new album, which was collaborated with longtime collaborator SOURCE Music, is expected to capture the group's unique sensibility.
