Winner Song Min-ho to be summoned by police for alleged misconduct in office

Police are set to summon Group Winner member Song Min-ho, who is suspected of misconduct, for an investigation.

"We have not yet investigated Song Min-ho, but we plan to summon him once the analysis of secured data such as CCTV is completed," the police said at a regular press conference on June 6.

Police began investigating Song Min-ho's alleged violation of the military service law after receiving a request from the Military Service Administration on March 23, and on March 27, they raided a community center in Mapo, Seoul, where Song Min-ho worked, and secured CCTV footage and related materials. Currently, police are analyzing whether or not he deserted his military service, focusing on his attendance records."

Song Min-ho began his alternative service as a social service worker in March last year and was dismissed from the service on March 23, but a media outlet reported that he had been caught up in a controversy over his misconduct. The media alleged that Song Min-ho did not report to his workplace, a community center, frequently and that his attendance records were falsified."

In response, officials at the facility reportedly said they rarely saw Song Min-ho, and the on-duty manager refused to provide attendance data, citing privacy concerns.

His agency, YG Entertainment, said, "It is difficult to confirm specific details related to the artist's military service," but added, "The sick leave is an extension of treatment that has been ongoing since before his military service, and all leave was taken in accordance with regulations."

Following further revelations, however, the Military Service Administration asked the police to investigate, and the police launched an internal investigation after receiving a complaint.

Song Min-ho was accused of negligence and preferential treatment even after he was transferred to an alternative duty station during his military service, and the controversy surrounding his case continues. The outcome of the police investigation is expected to reveal the truth of the allegations.
