2024 SBS Entertainment Awards Confirmed for Lunar New Year Holiday

The '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards,' which was canceled due to the Jeju Air passenger plane crash, will return to viewers on the 29th of this month, the Lunar New Year holiday.

SBS said on Wednesday, "The '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards' will be held on the 29th."

The '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards' was originally scheduled to be held on Dec. 31 last year, but the ceremony was canceled after a national mourning period was declared following the Jeju Air disaster. While some broadcasters replaced the awards with recorded broadcasts, SBS postponed the ceremony without recording. As a result, viewers will see it about a month later during the Lunar New Year holidays.

The main nominees for this year's awards include Yoo Jae Suk, Jeon Hyun Moo, Jeon Hyun Moo, Shin Dong Yup, Lee Sang Min, Seo Jang Hoon, Lee Hyun Yi, and Kim Jong Kook.

Meanwhile, KBS will broadcast the '2024 KBS Drama Awards' on December 11 at 9:20 p.m. KST. The ceremony was also scheduled to air live on Dec. 31, but was only recorded due to the national mourning period.

MBC's '2024 MBC Drama Awards' will be broadcast at 5:10 p.m. on December 5. However, the schedules for the 'Gayodejejeon' and '2024 MBC Entertainment Awards' have not yet been finalized.

The Jeju Air tragedy occurred at 9:07 a.m. on March 29 when Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok veered off the runway during landing at Muan International Airport, struck an outer wall and exploded. The crash, which killed 179 of the 181 people on board, prompted the government to declare a four-day national mourning period."
