Soyou, panic disorder, and then deepfake victimization.
Soyou opened up about being a victim of deepfake crimes on MBC Every1's entertainment program "Hidden Eye," which aired on Tuesday. On the show, the cast analyzed various crimes that have occurred this year, focusing on the deep-fake crimes described by profiler Kim Sang-won.
"I'm actually a victim of deepfakes myself," Soyou said while discussing the topic. "I've been suffering from malicious composites since 10 years ago, when the term 'deepfake' didn't even exist," she said. "I was very surprised by the photoshopped photos that were sent to me by an acquaintance."
Soyou said she has also been victimized by deepfake recently. "I found out about it because fans reported it to me," she said, "and I didn't pay much attention to it when it was just a photoshopped picture. However, the composite video was very offensive," she said. She explained that the incident happened during the filming of "Hidden Eye."
Soyou previously revealed her experience with panic disorder in the SBS special "Body Documentary - Confessions on Weight," which aired on May 29. "It was because I was afraid of being alone," she said, explaining why she considered retiring after her group SISTAR, saying she collapsed and was taken to the emergency room due to extreme dieting. She also recalled a time when she suffered from panic disorder during her music career, saying, "I suddenly burst into tears during a music broadcast and cried for two hours. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with panic disorder."
The confession has resonated with many as it raises awareness about deepfakes and mental health issues. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
