SEVENTEEN dominates Japan's Oricon annual chart...breaks record for international artists
According to the "Oricon Annual Rankings 2024," released by Japan's Oricon on Tuesday, SEVENTEEN's best album 17 IS RIGHT HERE ranked third in the "Combined Album Ranking" category, while their mini 12th album SPILL THE FEELS ranked fifth. This is the highest ranking for any overseas artist, demonstrating SEVENTEEN's strong local popularity.
With these two albums, SEVENTEEN broke the record for the highest first-week sales for an overseas artist in Japan, making them the only artist to have two albums in the top 10 of the Combined Album Rankings.
Her performance in the Album Ranking was also remarkable. After their best album came in at No. 4 and their 12th mini album at No. 5, their 11th mini album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, released last year, entered at No. 13. SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN is the only artist with three works in the top 15.
SEVENTEEN also landed at No. 17 on the Japanese Singles Rankings with their fourth Japanese single, Shohikigen (Expiration Date). The single was released on Nov. 27 and made a surprise entry into the annual rankings after only about two weeks of sales.
Previously, SEVENTEEN also ranked as the highest ranking overseas artist on Billboard Japan's 2024 Annual Chart in both the Hot Albums and Top Album Sales categories, confirming their strong presence in Japan.
SEVENTEEN's popularity is also reflected in their performances. The group is currently on a 10-date world tour that will be held at four domes in Japan over the next month, culminating in a performance at Fukuoka's PayPay Dome on the 21st and 22nd. Special projects that combine SEVENTEEN's brand with local infrastructure are also taking place at the venues, creating a unique experience for fans. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
