'Squid Game' Season 2 Receives Golden Globe Nomination for Best Drama Even Before Premiere
The second season of "Squid Game" will compete for the trophy alongside FX's "Shōgun," Netflix's "The Diplomat," Apple TV+'s "Slow Horses," Prime Video's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and Peacock's "The Day of the Jackal," according to the nominations for the 82nd annual awards ceremony, which were announced Monday (local time) by Golden Globe organizers.
The nominations are particularly noteworthy given that Season 2 has yet to be officially announced. The Golden Globes generally only nominate shows that have aired this year or have been provided to the judges by Nov. 4. Netflix appears to have released season two of Squid Game in advance, and local media outlets have expressed surprise, saying that "it's highly unusual for a show to be nominated before it has aired."
Season 1 of "Squid Game" was nominated for three awards at the 79th Golden Globe Awards in 2022, including Best Drama, where actor O Yeong-su became the first Korean actor to win the Best Supporting Actor award.
The 82nd Golden Globe Awards, where "Squid Game" Season 2 was nominated, will take place on Jan. 5 next year. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
