NewJeans vs. ADOR, Termination Conflict Intensifies...Law expert predicted the case
The controversy over the termination of the exclusive contract between the group NewJeans and agency ADOR has become a hot topic. The legal dispute began when NewJeans notified ADOR of the termination of their contract, and the legal community has expressed their opinions on various issues related to the termination.
The legal community has expressed their opinions on various issues related to the termination.
Lawyer Lee Ji-hoon analyzed NewJeans's current situation on his YouTube channel 'Korea Lawyer' and said, "As long as NewJeans claims to terminate the contract, it is likely that there will be problems with the team name and the use of existing songs." "The name 'NewJeans' can be considered an asset of the agency, so a lawsuit is inevitable if the members want to continue using it," he emphasized.
He also warned that NewJeans would face greater legal risk if it didn't honor ADOR's existing schedule. "The real dispute will begin in earnest after the scheduled timeline ends. Failure to honor the schedule could increase the risk," he analyzed."
Lee also addressed the issue of penalties, which are said to be around 620 billion won, that are being discussed alongside the termination of the contract. "Since this issue is a civil matter, the penalty can be settled with money," he said, explaining that "if NewJeans wants to terminate the contract, settlement is inevitable."
NewJeans announced the termination at a press conference on Nov. 28, claiming that ADOR had breached the contract. The company immediately countered with a lawsuit to prove that the contract was valid.
Separately, NewJeans has been communicating with fans recently. On December 7, at Yoasobi's concert in Korea at Incheon Inspire Arena, the members of NewJeans took the stage to sing "How Sweet," "Right Now," and Yoasobi's hit song "Biri-Biri" together.
As the conflict between NewJeans and ADOR continues to escalate into a legal battle, fans and the industry are eagerly awaiting to see how the situation will develop. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
