NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) said in an official statement on Saturday, "As of November 29, 2024, we are no longer under the agency, and the agency cannot interfere or intervene in our activities."
"We recently learned that ADOR has filed a lawsuit against us claiming that the exclusivity agreement is still in effect," the company said, noting that "ADOR has failed to prove that there is no breach of the exclusivity agreement, and is merely reiterating its claim that the agreement cannot be terminated until the company recovers the support and investment it provided. "We have already returned profits in excess of our investment to ADOR and HYBE, and yet HYBE has continued its slanderous and sabotaging behavior to tarnish our image, which ADOR, under its new management, has aided and abetted. Rather than protecting artists, the company has been an enabler of malicious commentary."
NewJeans said this breach of trust was a key reason for the termination, stating, "Given the label's repeated breaches of contractual obligations and neglect of its duty to protect artists, there is no reason for us to remain with ADOR and HYBE." "Our exclusive agreement provides that we can terminate the agreement if the label fails to fulfill its contractual obligations. We gave them 14 days to cure, but they failed to do so, so we gave them notice of termination, effective immediately." The statement continued.
Newzine concluded by stating, "Our position is clear, and we will maintain it," and expressed strong distrust of both ADOR and HYBE." <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
