Family by Choice are Popular Across Asia...Indonesia tops the list for the third week in a row
JBTC drama 'Family by Choice' named one of favorite K-dramas among Asians.
According to the weekly chart for the fourth week of October (October 21 - October 27) released by Viu, Asia's largest pan-regional OTT platform, on October 29, JTBC's Wednesday drama "Family by Choice" ranked first in Indonesia for the third consecutive week. It also ranked No. 1 in Malaysia, No. 2 in the Philippines, No. 3 in Singapore and Thailand, and No. 5 in Hong Kong, securing its place in the top five in six Asian countries.
"Family by Choice" is a romance drama about three young people who reunite and blossom in love after living apart for 10 years, and resonates with Asian audiences with its modern take on the universal themes of family and love.
The delicate emotional performances of Hwang In-yup, Jung Chae-yeon, and Bae Hyun-sung, as well as the drama's in-depth storyline, have been particularly well-received by audiences in Southeast Asia, with comparisons to the original drama "Yi Ga In-myeong" (English: Go Ahead), which aired in China in 2020, drawing positive reviews for its original charm and emotional depth.
In an interview with Viu, Hwang In-yup said, "I want to be remembered as an actor who makes me excited to watch," a wish that seems to be being realized through the drama's enthusiastic reception. Jung Chae-yeon also expressed her excitement about the chemistry between the three actors, saying, "I hope I can keep waiting for the scenes with the three of them," and fans have been delighted by their perfect chemistry in the drama. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
