Paste includes NewJeans's 'Ditto' in 'Best Songs of 2020'...only K-pop to do so

NewJeans's "Ditto" has been named one of the "Best Songs of the 2020s" by U.S. music publication Paste.

Paste recently released its "100 Best Songs of the 2020s" list and ranked "Ditto" from NewJeans's (Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein) single album "OMG" at No. 23. "Ditto" was the only K-pop song to make the list. Songs by global pop stars such as Billy Eilish, Caesar, Fiona Apple, and The 1975 also made the list of the 100 Best Songs of the 2020s.

"When we think about the state of K-pop in the 2020s, no group has risen as quickly as NewJeans, and 'Ditto' is one of their best songs," said Paste. "NewJeans is a bold departure from the flashy EDM and overly-sweet maximalism of current K-pop, and suggests a groovier, more elegant future. 'Ditto' is a perfect representation of their position in this new genre and their explosive star power."

NewJeans's 'Ditto' is the perfect example of their newfound stardom.

Released on December 19, 2022, "Ditto" features a cozy melody and warm vocals from NewJeans. With "Ditto," NewJeans entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 within six months of its debut. On Mellon, a major Korean music site, the song was ranked No. 1 on the daily chart for 99 consecutive days and No. 1 on the weekly chart for 14 consecutive weeks, making it the No. 1 overall annual chart in 2023.
