Prosecutor seeks 4 years in prison for idol-bashing YouTuber in 'taldeok camp'

Taldeoksooyongso, a YouTuber who slandered a popular idol, has been sentenced to four years in prison.

The Criminal Division 11 of the Incheon District Court held a determination hearing for Taldeoksooyongso, who was charged with defamation and insult under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection on the 23rd.

The prosecution told the court, "You insulted the victims on a total of five occasions. Defamed them by posting videos of false facts. You interfered with the victims' agency management activities and operated a paid membership system, and you continuously wrote about the victims' appearance, personality, and relationships."

The prosecution asked the court to sentence him to four years in prison and a fine of 214.152 million won.

Taldeoksooyongso was sent to trial on defamation charges for spreading false facts and making slanderous videos targeting several famous idols, including Jang Won-young, EXO's Suho, aespa's Karina, Kang Daniel, BTS's Jungkook and V.

The defense admitted to all the charges. However, the defense argued that "it was not done solely for monetization. The defendant is currently doing volunteer work and receiving psychiatric treatment," and announced plans for a settlement with the victims.
