aespa's 'Whiplash' Explodes on Spotify and iTunes Top Albums Charts

Girl group aespa has scored the highest entry for a K-pop girl group this year on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart with "Whiplash."

aespa's "Whiplash" debuted at No. 53 on Spotify's 21st chart, with 2.218 million streams on its first day of release, according to Spotify. It's also Espa's highest debut ever.

"Whiplash" was released at 6 p.m. KST on July 21 and has been streamed for just 15 hours. Considering this, it's clear that aespa's new song was met with an overwhelming response from music fans around the world as soon as it was released.

In addition to topping the iTunes Top Albums chart in a total of 24 territories, including Colombia and Spain, the album also topped the combined K-POP charts of all five music platforms under Tencent Music in China, the Kugou Music Digital Album Sales Chart, the QQ Music Digital Album Sales Chart, the All-Korean Music Video Chart, and the Korean Music Video Chart, and was certified double platinum (awarded for sales exceeding 2 million yuan) in Japan, where it also topped the AWA Real-Time Surge Chart and the Mora Foreign Songs Latest and Daily Chart.
