G-Dragon Attends Year-End 'Mama Awards' for the First Time in 9 Years

G-Dragon's attendance at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS has been confirmed.

With about a month to go before the MAMA Awards, the third lineup of performing artists has been revealed. Along with G-Dragon, the lineup includes BIBI, BOYNEXTDOOR, (G)I-DLE, and PLAVE.

BOYNEXTDOOR and PLAVE will headline the first day of the festival at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan on Sept. 22. BOYNEXTDOOR, the fifth-generation K-POP boy band, is currently riding high with their latest mini album, "19.99," which has been their highest-performing album in Korea, as well as globally in the U.S. and Japan. PLAVE, the five-member virtual idol group, which debuted last year, has continued its streak of topping music charts and music broadcasts this year and sold out its fan concert in October in less than 10 minutes, creating an eye-catching experience that blurs the line between audience and stage.

On the 23rd, the second day of the festival in Japan, BIBI, (G)I-DLE, and G-Dragon will take the stage. With her mega-hit single "Bam Yang Gang," released in February this year, she has emerged as a mainstream artist for all generations, known for her unique sound and colors as well as her stage presence.

(G)I-DLE achieved the music broadcasting triple crown with their mini 7th album title track "Klaxon," which was released in July and topped the major charts at home and abroad, and are now leading an explosive response with their intense performances and vocals as they embark on a 14-city world tour starting in Seoul.

In particular, G-Dragon's appearance on stage on the final day of the awards ceremony will be noteworthy as it will be nine years since he last performed on stage in 2015. As one of K-pop's trend-setting artists and creators of countless 'firsts' and iconic scenes that are still being talked about today, it will be interesting to see how he will make history in his own unique way.

The MAMA Awards will be held on November 21 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and November 22 and 23 at the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan, and will be broadcast live around the world on Mnet, as well as on YouTube channels Mnet K-POP and Mnet TV.
