Actress Lee Young-ae has sued the head of Open Sympathy TV for spreading fake news

According to a news report on August 8, the Seoul Higher Prosecutor's Office is directly investigating the case in which Lee Young-ae filed a criminal complaint against the head of Open Gonggam TV for defamation last year.

Previously, Lee filed a civil and criminal complaint with the Seoul Yongsan Police Station and the Seoul Western District Court in October last year for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation), accusing the head of Open Public Television of disparaging her and spreading fake news that differed from the facts.

At the time, her agency Group Eight said, "If she had admitted to the fake news and apologized, we would not have sued Mr. Jung Cheon-soo of Open Gonggam TV, whose ownership is being disputed. Lee Young Ae has been waiting for over a month for an apology and to stop broadcasting. We think it is the attitude of a true journalist to honestly admit and apologize if the content of the report is wrong."
