BTS SUGA confirms 15 million won e-scooter drunk driving fine

BTS member SUGA was sentenced to a 15 million won fine for drunk driving on an electric scooter.

On the 90th, Judge Lee Yoo-seop of the Seoul Western District Court Summary 7 issued a summary order of 15 million won in fines to SUGA, who was summarily charged with drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act on the 27th of this month.

SUGA, who works as a social service worker, was caught by police while returning home on an electric scooter after drinking alcohol in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at around 11:15 p.m. on March 6. His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.227%, well above the legal limit for license revocation (0.08%). SUGA appeared at the Yongsan Police Station 17 days after the accident, where he was questioned for three hours and admitted to the charges. The police then sent him to the Seoul West District Prosecutors' Office."

SUGA posted a handwritten apology on Weavers, a fan community, on March 25, expressing remorse for the incident.

"I'm sorry for the damage I caused to the members and the team," he wrote, "and I'm sorry that they went through such a difficult time because of me." "I am also sorry for the fans who have always given me undeserved love," he said, "I know that no words can heal the wounds and disappointment, so I deeply regret and reflect on it every day with a heavy heart."
