"My parents divorced when I was about 5 years old, so I was raised by my grandmother," Han So-hee said in a statement at the time, adding, "I transferred to Ulsan, where my mother lives, when I entered high school, but I have lived with my grandmother since then." He also said, "I didn't go back and forth with my mother very often. As a child, she helped pay off her mother's debts as much as she could before her debut."

An official from Han So-hee's agency 9Ato Entertainment said, "When Han So-hee was a minor, her mother opened a bank account without her knowledge and used it to borrow money. While it is true that Han So Hee was unable to break the cycle, she has no plans to take responsibility for her mother's debts at this time."

Also, regarding the corner case, the company said, "The contents related to Han So-hee's mother are her mother's personal affairs," and that "Han So-hee also heard about it through the article."
