Park Bo-young calls ‘Our Unwritten Seoul’ a rare challenge: “It’s not four roles, but two”
Actress Park Bo-young shared her thoughts on playing dual roles in tvN’s new weekend drama “Our Unwritten Seoul.”
At a press conference held on May 21 at CGV Yeongdeungpo in Seoul, Park Bo-young joined co-stars Park Jinyoung, Ryu Kyungsoo, and director Park Shinwoo to discuss the upcoming series.
“Our Unwritten Seoul” is a romantic coming-of-age drama about twin sisters who share the same face but lead completely different lives. After switching places, they begin to uncover real love and the true meaning of life. Park Bo-young plays both Yu Mi-ji and Yu Mi-ra, taking on what essentially becomes four character variations.
“I think of it more as two roles than four,” Park said. “When I first read the script, I felt it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and challenge.” She added, “The line in episode one, ‘I’ll live as you, and you live as me,’ made me instantly decide to take the role.”
To differentiate the two characters, she paid close attention to their appearance. “Mirae is emotionally worn down and living in Seoul, so I aimed to give her a colder look and used toned-down colors. For Miji, we added bleached hair and visible roots to create a contrast,” she explained. “Once the characters switched lives, I was concerned about maintaining balance, but thanks to the director, we made it work.”
“Our Unwritten Seoul” premieres on tvN on May 24 at 9:20 p.m. <저작권자 ⓒ 코인리더스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
